King Abdullah opens KAMC in Makkah

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz shall open on Saturday 28/11/2009 King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) in the Sacred Capital and Mina Al-Wadi Hospital in Mina, both of which shall serve the people of Makkah Al-Mukuarramah and the pilgrims all round the year, said the Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Azizi Al-Rabeeah.

In a press statement on the occasion the minister lauded the great care allotted by the High Court to the health services provided to the guests of the holy mosque.

He said the spacious KAMC is a specialized medical reference city and the third in the Kingdom after King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh and King Fahad Specialized Hospital in Dammam. "Established on an area of 800,000mē, with a capacity of 1500 beds, and comprising 10 ORI rooms, high tech CT scanning and radiography units, the hospital is part of the national project for integrated and comprehensive health care, which has been set for providing the best quality of health services", he said. "It comprises all medical specialties and runs all works on digital bases".

He said Mina Al-Wadi Hospital in Mina has been built on an area of 3400mē, with a total bed capacity of 200 beds. "The hospital, with its 3 storey building, includes all supporting services - a lab, a radiography unit, a sterilization unit, etc - in addition to two highly equipped operation units", he said. "Its construction works continued for 11 months, starting at the end of the last Hajj season", he added.
