Marriage is an important event in the life of an individual for it works to build the family and through it the individual gets through a new phase in building emotional social, domestic, healthy relationships.  There is a need to have some form of system for prevention of the transmission of genetic and infectious diseases which make live difficult, cause sadness and lead to psychological , social and economical problems beside the medical complexities that are reflected on the patient, family and society

Definition of Healthy Marriage :

It is a harmonial and emotional relationship between the couple from the sexual, social legal and psychological point of view and to build a healthy family and give birth to happy and healthy children.

Definition premarital assessment:

It is for making diagnostic test for those who want to get married but need to know if they have any genetic, blood disease (skill cell anemia & B – Thalssemeia) or infectious diseases (as HBV , HCV , HIV). It is also about the possibility of the transmission of diseases to the other partner in marriage or to children in future. It offers choices and substitutions to the engaged couple to help them in planning for a healthy family .

The Object of Premarital Assessment:

The program of healthy marriage is a national, social, enlightenment and precautionary program that aims to:

1-To prevent the spread of genetic blood disease (like sickle cell Anemia and B- Thalassemia) and HBV, HCV, HIV.

2-To decrease the subsequent financial burdens that result from treating patients on within the family and society.

3-To reduce the workload of health institutions and blood banks.

4-To get rid of the social and psychological problems of the families that have other children suffering from diseases.

5-To make it easier for those who may get embarrassment due to this test.

6-Spreding awareness in the communities about the concept of a "Total Healthy Marriage"
